Ritmo Latino is proud to present our annual Noche de Melodía, a dinner event benefiting the Berkshire Immigrant Center (BIC). The funds that we raise help the BIC serve a community of immigrants from all over the world with services like English language assistance and legal help. In addition to contributing to the Berkshire community, Noche de Melodía is an opportunity to share our diverse cultural backgrounds with the Williams Community and for those who come to our weekly lessons to display what they have learned.
Noche de Melodía will take place on November 20, 2010 in Dodd House and will feature the fine cuisine of Colombian restaurant La Fogata, the infectious sounds of Latin music, and a spacious dance floor with plenty of opportunity for dancing salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia.
6:00 pm: Doors will open for the welcome/appetizers portion of the night
6:30 pm: Ritmo Latino will perform three pieces (merengue, cumbia, and rueda de casino)
6:45 pm: Dinner will be served
10:00 pm: Ritmo will offer dance lessons and a DJ set.
125 tickets for Noche de Melodía will be distributed for donations.
Founded in 2005, Ritmo Latino is the Williams College Latin dance ensemble. In addition to performing, the group hosts free classes and workshops that introduce Latin dances from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela (among others) to the Williams community. With a focus on providing an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to come together, Ritmo Latino has grown into a vibrant community with a motivated core of enthusiastic, dedicated dancers and supporters.
